Nestled in the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water, The Chestnut Tree café has quickly garnered a reputation for excellence among locals and tourists alike. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, this café is a haven for those seeking delightful refreshments. Customers rave about the charming cream teas and decadent scones; Chris Stilton even claims they'd make the seventy-mile journey worthwhile for a taste of their renowned offerings. The breakfast menu, featuring the classic Cotswold Breakfast, is a hit, and as Ethan Wan highlights, the generous portion sizes—especially for children—ensure that no one leaves hungry. Staff members contribute significantly to the warm ambiance, with frequent praise for their attentiveness and genuine friendliness. Garry Vandeleur's experience echoes this sentiment, as he highlights the quality of the coffee and stuffed croissants, all whilst noting the café's growing popularity, given the queue of patrons eager to enjoy this culinary gem. Serena’s insight into The Chestnut Tree’s accommodating options for gluten-free and vegan diets emphasizes their commitment to inclusivity, which is a refreshing touch. Overall, The Chestnut Tree is a delightful destination that offers not only delicious food but also a welcoming experience. Whether you're indulging in a sweet treat or savoring a hearty meal, you’re bound to leave with a smile.

Well worth a seventy mile trip to visit Bourton on the water. Feeling in need of refreshments, visit the Chestnut Tree for cream tea and scones, if I could give six stars I would, everything spotlessly clean, scones to die for and decent staff.

Great coffee and the stuffed croissant are a delight and good staff. It's worth a visit if you can get in, we were lucky but by the time we left there was a long queue in the and it's only March.

Brilliant food, the chips were fried to perfection and the gammon steak was very good and the portion sizes were very large especially the children's meal. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The children's meal also comes wih a (very large) scoop of Cotswolds ice cream. Overall the food was very good.

Best service I’ve had. Wonderful polite, genuine people. Excellent service. Cakes and teas are delightful. Wonderful to have a tea shop serving GF and VG options! All GF products were covered with clingfilm to ensure no cross contamination, that was reassuring, and nice to see. Gluten-free brownie tasted amazing. Will be bringing my partner here, who is vegan in the future for tea and cake. It nice you can go somewhere and still feel included with cake and food. It’s a small shop so probably best to go in the week when less busy to have the best experience. I imagine it’s quite popular as everything is so tasty and looks amazing. The lady who served us was very helpful and found a tub we could take a cake back in for my partner.

I bought ice cream and 2 cruffins. Very nice. The cruffins were huge and had lots of filling (can be shared). On the expensive side - but it is a tourist area. The ladies were welcoming and service was good. 15.20 for the ice cream and cruffins together.

Passed by and saw the multitude of cakes on display and felt peckish. Bought the Queen Victoria which was to die for! Fresh ,soft, really tasty jam as well. Bought a caramel pie too but was in the very sweet side ,never had it before so didn’t know what to expect. If in the area, will return for sure to try their cronuts and not only!

Spoil yourself! If you reserve a table and an afternoon tea here and in advance you will not regret it. We received a great selection of veggi sandwiches and a selection of home made scones and cakes. All was prepared with so much care and love! The food was so tasty and yummy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making our trip and visit so special.

Arrived in Bourton on the Water at around 1pm on a Monday, the ‘village’ was so busy. We only wanted something light and called into the Chestnut Tree. Delightful assistant helped us to choose a milkshake each & then heated up our cheese and ham croissants. The croissants melted in the mouth and the milkshake was the creamiest I’d ever tasted. Cannot fault anything about our visit. Even better, we could sit outside in warm sunshine!
